COACHING ONTARIO WATER SKI INSTRUCTORS' COURSE - 1994 The 1994 Ontario Water Ski Instructors' Course (OWSIC) will be held from Saturday, June 18 to Thursday, June 23. Every participant receives NCCP Level 1 certification OWSIC has been providing first- class water ski instructors for over 30 years. The course is unique in providing an outstanding student- teacher ratio and an excellent quality of instruction. Many camps and ski schools now require that their instructors attend OWSIC. OWSIC covers all bases, offering skill teaching techniques ranging from beginner two-ski, through advanced slalom, tricks, jumping and barefooting. Also included are: * boat handling * driving techniques for water skiing * risk management * conditioning & training * equipment design & care * instructor psychology * ski school management * show skiing The course is not designed to improve participant's own skiing skills. Instead, lectures, audio- visual aids, printed materials and practical training are used to introduce participants to the safest and most advanced methods of teac- hing water skiing. '94 INSTRUCTORS' COURSE WHEN: June 18 - 23, 1994 WHERE: Central Ontario FEES: $440 (includes GST) Fee includes all meals and accommodation, instruction, materials and an OWSA membership. (Current members will be extended one year.) APPLICATION: Application must be accompanied by a non- refundable deposit of $25 and OWSIC t-shirt monies, if ordering. The balance is due Wednesday, June 15, 1994. Make cheques payable to the Ontario Water Ski Association. DEADLINE: June 1, 1994. Applications after this date will be considered if space is available. After June 1, call OWSA. DO NOT MAIL FORM. Participants will be evaluated through written, oral and practical examinations to be eligible for Level I, II or III OWSIC certification. Every participant who attends will receive their full Level I National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) credi- tation. Enrolment for the course is limited to 100. Deadline for application is June 1st. Applications after June 1st will be considered if space is available. If you decide after June 1st that you wish to attend, DO NOT MAIL the application form. Call the OWSA directly for advice on how to proceed. Deposits mailed after June 1 will not be acknowledged at course registration. A limited production of OWSIC t- shirts (one size fits all) are available on a pre-ordered basis. If you wish to order one or more, please include $20 for each shirt (all taxes included). REQUIREMENTS 1. A desire to impart knowledge of water skiing to the general public. 2. Min. age 16 as of June 1/94. 3. Although a Royal Life Saving Bronze Medallion certification is desirable, it is not a prerequi site. However, you must be able to demonstrate the equiv alent of Bronze Medallion swimming requirements (ie. 400 yds. of continuous swimming). 4. Membership in the OWSA.
