MEMBERSHIP WHY YOU SHOULD SUPPORT THE OWSA The Ontario Water Ski Association relies on its mem- bers, sponsors and the government for funding to allow it to provide programs and services to water skiers, kneeboards and skiboarders in this province. But we also need donations to help us bridge the gap between diminishing government funding and the increasing needs of Ontario water skiers. You already know that by donating to Water Ski Canada for Ontario you'll receive a tax receipt. We'll also print your name in the Ontario Water Skier and send you a certificate as a token of our gratitude. But is that enough? Think about what would happen if government support for the OWSA dried up overnight. There'd be two options: every existing member could pay a membership fee of about $200, or we could close the OWSA office. You'd still be able to go skiing, so, would you care? OWSA MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS As an OWSA member, you get: * Automatic membership in Water Ski Canada, the national sport organization for water skiers. * Ontario Water Skier - 4 issues to keep you up to date on the latest in the sport, how-to articles and profiles of Ontario's water ski personalities. * Ski Nautique News - 3 issues of Water Ski Cana da's publication with news and competitive results from across Canada and the world. * Special membership offers - special offer on WaterSki magazine; - other special offers such as discounts on Hobi sunglasses (details to be announced later - see pg. 19) * Rental priviledges with the OWSA's video library. * Much more, including decals and access to special programs. Regular membership: $12.00 Traditional competitive: $50.00 Traditional family: $70.00 Barefoot competitive: $60.00 Barefoot family: $90.00 Well, you would care if you valued this magazine, which is almost unique in keeping you informed about Canadian water skiing. You would care if there was nobody to lobby for the right to ski on waterways. You would care if you wanted summer campers to have access to certified instrcutors or a water ski development program. You might miss being able to rent a water ski video, or you might miss the OWSA handbook, which every member will receive later this year. Or the new travelling clinic program. If you are a competitor, you would surely notice the disappearance of the Canada Games program, the junior development program, trai- ning for officials and coaches and support for hosting events. To preserve these programs, and the new ones we're developing, we need your support. That's why your donation, and membership are so important.
