For Immediate Release May 19, 1996 High Point, NC CANADIANS DREW ROSS AND TOM MUIR TAKE FIFTH AT 1996 PRO TOUR STOP #2 Canadians Drew Ross (Belleville, ON) and Tom Muir (Waterloo, ON) tied for fifth place in the Men's Slalom event on the second stop of the Cafe de Colombia Water Ski Tour and Sea Doo Wakeboard Series in High Point, North Carolina this weekend. They each scored 3 @ 38 off (51 buoys). Patrice Martin of France won the event with a run of 2 @ 39 off (56 buoys). In the preliminary round on Saturday, Ross was second with 4.5 @ 38 off (52.5 buoys) and Muir was third with 3 @ 38 off (51 buoys). Doug Ross (Belleville, ON) failed to qualify for the finals when he placed ninth after a runoff in the preliminary round with a score of 2 @ 38 off (50 buoys). Jim Clunie (Tisdale, SK) took 6th place in the Men's Jump event after jumping a distance of 56.7 metres (186 feet). Clunie recently underwent surgery in March to correct a re-injured knee. First place went to Carl Roberge (USA) who set a new record with a jump of 64 metres (210 feet). Canadian jumper Jaret Llewellyn (Innisfail, AB) placed eighth in the preliminary round on Saturday with his jump of 55.2 metres (181 feet) and failed to qualify for the finals. The next stop on the Cafe de Colombia Water Ski Tour and Sea Doo Wakeboard Series takes place in Shreveport, Louisianna on June 8-9.
