For Immediate Release April 14, 1996 Orlando, Florida CANADIAN JIM CLUNIE TAKES 4TH IN 1996 PRO TOUR STOP #1 Jim Clunie (Tisdale, SK) took 4th place in Men's Jump event on the first stop of the Cafe de Colombia Water Ski Tour and Sea Doo Wakeboard Series in Orlando, Florida this weekend. Clunie jumped to a fourth place finish with a distance of 58.8 metres (193 feet), Clunie underwent surgery in March to correct a re-injured knee. First place went to Carl Roberge (USA) who jumped 61.9 metres (203 feet). Australian Bruce Neville placed 2nd with a distance of 60.0, metres (197 feet) and third place was Mike Heath (USA) with a distance of 59.7 metres (196 feet). Canadian jumper Jaret Llewellyn (Innisfail, AB) also qualified for the finals and placed 6th with a jump of 57.6 metres (189 feet). Brother Kreg Llewellyn failed to qualify for the finals with his jump of 54.5 metres (179 feet). Canadian wakeboarder Jeremy Kovak (Millgrove, ON) went into today's finals after a 1st place with 3,750 points in the "Expression Session". He was 2nd place in the preliminaries with 19,680. Kovak's 16,382 points put him 9th in a tight field of finalists which was won by American Dean Lavelle who scored 19,628 points. The next stop on the Cafe de Colombia Water Ski Tour and Sea Doo Wakeboard Series takes place in High Point, North Carolina on May 18-19, 1996.
