1997 Worlds Looking for New Site The I.W.S.F. has decided to re-open bids for a host site for the 1997 Worlds after rejecting a request from Water Ski Canada and the Ontario Water Ski Association for an adjustment to the monies received by the IWSF for the event. Toronto had won the bid in 1993 beating out bids from China and Colombia. The letter included in this edition of Backwash outlines what happened. At the present time the site for the 1997 Worlds remains a question mark. Perfect Pass to be on board for 1996 Nationals, Easterns, Westerns & Atlantics. Following a motion passed at Water Ski Canada’s 1995 Annual Congress, we are pleased to announce that Perfect Pass will be the official speed control system of Water Ski Canada. The motion stipulated that speed control become mandatory at the 1996 Nationals, Easterns, Westerns and Atlantics. Discussions with Perfect Pass officials results in an official supplier agreement for the coming year. Perfect Pass has just come off a highly successful run at the 1995 Latin American Championships in Chile and was used extensively in Canada during the past year. The company is Canadian owned and operated and is presently gearing up for a wide international presence. IWSF President Andres Botero subsequently reported that water skiing will be one of the sports taking part in the Games. This decision is subject to final ratification at the PASO Annual Congress in March.
